Explore Yoga Nidra as both a deep state of awareness and a powerful therapeutic tool. This module teaches students to apply guided awareness, breath, Sankalpa, and trauma-informed adaptations to support emotional resilience, mental clarity, and nervous system healing. Through script development and personal experience, students will learn to guide both group and individual sessions aligned with the koshas and Ayurvedic principles of doshic balance.

Materials to Bring:

  • Restorative props:
    • Chair
    • Standar Yoga Props (2 blocks, blanket (1-2), bolster)
    • Strap

  • Key Teaching Homework:
    • Set a Sankalpa; Practice Yoga Nidra while focusing on your sankalpa, observing any states of mind or emotions that arise; Journal Reflection: Reflect on your experience, including insights, emotions, physical sensations, and connections to the states of mind such as mudha (dull), kshipta (disturbed), vikshipta (distracted), ekagrata (one-pointed), nirodha (restrained), vaishvanara (waking), taijasa (dream), prajña (deep sleep), and turiya (beyond).

  • Final Homework for Retreat: 
    • Yoga Nidra Intake Form. Develop an intake form to gather relevant client information, focusing on mental, emotional, and physical states, goals, and unique needs.
    • Original Yoga Nidra Script. Create a personalized Yoga Nidra script tailored for a specific therapeutic purpose, such as stress relief, trauma recovery, or sleep improvement.
    • Practice Teaching Session. Deliver the created script to a peer or small group, ensuring clarity, pacing, and alignment with therapeutic goals. Collect feedback on the session's effectiveness and adjust as needed.
    • Write a reflective piece discussing the teaching experience, challenges faced, successes, and insights gained about Yoga Nidra’s impact on the body and mind.
    • Optional Bonus (Extra Credit): Record and submit the Yoga Nidra script as an audio file, demonstrating effective voice modulation, pacing, and delivery.
