Mudras are gestures of the hands, face or body that promote physical health, psychological balance and awakening. This module is an in-depth exploration of hand gestures most used for the benefits of common conditions such as digestive issues, back pain, arthritis, anxiety and depression.
Upon successful completion of this module, students will be able to:
Understand:
· And implement mudras as one of the ranges of yoga practices that have potential to work on a subtle and therapeutic level.
· Who would benefit and evidence-based research on how it can change the mind-body-spirit connection?
Explain:
· The use of mudras in a yoga therapy session.
Describe:
· The benefits and effectiveness of mudras used during the training.
Define:
· Appropriate use and contraindications for mudras and appropriate conditions.
Required reading: Mudras for Healing and Transformation (read introduction) by Joseph and Lilian Le Page.
Materials to bring: standard yoga props (2 blocks, 2 blankets (or 1 blanket and 1 bolster), and strap), Mudras for Healing and Transformation by Joseph and Lilian Le Page.
Course Completion Requirements: Attending and participating in the course module (or completing makeup assignments given by the teacher). Choose one of the mudras learned and write a two-page paper on the condition you will be using it for, why you choose this mudra and experiential evidence you have collected when putting the mudra into practice. Working one-on-one with a Yoga Therapy Client utilize a healing mudra within the protocols presented within this module.
