PRE-REQUISITES: MUST HAVE TAKEN MAJORITY OF FOUNDATIONS COURSES
Explore the Yamas in relationship to the work of a yoga therapist and with private students. The therapeutic relationship, boundaries necessary to form a healthy healing space. The format for conducting private work, sharing, supporting, and educating students where they are. Learning how to conduct sessions according to the pancha maya model of holistic health.
Upon successful completion of this module, students will be able to:
Understand:
How to conduct a private session with clear understanding of the 5-stage format (used at Pranayoga Institute of Yoga and Ayurveda).
Clear communication and intentions for setting goals and outcomes for a result-based practice.
How to conduct a whole-body survey.
How to apply knowledge of the therapeutic relationship.
How to take an assessment, conduct a course of action, and follow through with the client.
Explain:
The anatomy of lasting and successful private relationships.
Describe:
How to test for strength, weakness, imbalance (vikriti) emotionally and physically.
Private session goals on the pancha maya model.
Define:
Pancha maya model in yoga therapy sessions.
Required reading: Path of Joyful Living by Dani McGuire and The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali by Sri Swami Satchidananda
Materials to bring: standard props (2 blocks, 2 blankets (or 1 blanket and 1 bolster), and strap), Path of Joyful Living, and the Yoga Sutras .
Course Completion Requirements: Attending and participating in the course module (or completing makeup assignments given by the teacher). Conduct 6, 60-minute Holistic Private Sessions with friends or family. Begin to get comfortable working one on one with students using the pancha maya model. Working on the holistic method of the pancha maya model and journaling on the preparation, practices, goals, and therapeutic relationship. . Write your code of ethics over this process. Meet with mentor prior to the 1st session to go over notes and plan. Use charting tool.
