Yoga Therapy for Cancer (60-Hour IAYT-Approved Continuing Education)

This 60-hour professional training offers a compassionate, evidence-informed approach to supporting individuals across all phases of the cancer journey—treatment, recovery, and survivorship. Designed for yoga therapists and experienced teachers, the course integrates yoga therapy, Ayurveda, and modern oncology knowledge to address the physical, emotional, and energetic dimensions of healing.

Through 23 hours of Yoga for Cancer foundations, you’ll learn how cancer and its treatments affect the body systems and how to adapt asana, breath, meditation, and relaxation practices to meet students safely and effectively where they are. You’ll explore trauma-informed communication, sequencing for fatigue and neuropathy, and the use of props for restorative support.

In the 14-hour Adaptive Chair Yoga module, you’ll deepen your understanding of how to make yoga accessible for individuals with limited mobility, post-surgical restrictions, or chronic side effects. You’ll gain practical skills for designing inclusive classes and private sessions that emphasize comfort, stability, and empowerment.

The 23-hour Breast Cancer module offers specialized training in post-surgical adaptation, lymphatic care, emotional healing, and rebuilding strength and confidence. You’ll learn to address common concerns such as scar tissue, lymphedema prevention, pain management, and self-image restoration.

By the end of this training, you’ll be able to create personalized yoga therapy programs for people affected by cancer—supporting resilience, hope, and quality of life through gentle, mindful practice.
